A Story:

A native of Metro Detroit, Jennifer was immersed in a vast array of music, art and community from a young age shaping her love for people, performance arts and creative pursuits. Following high school, she traversed many subjects between Oakland University and Western Michigan only to feel a push away from a traditional career path and onto one that was more unconventional. Her obsession with music and seeking deep connections with others propelled her into exploring opportunities in entertainment, writing and fashion all threading back to the service industry.

Obtaining her cosmetology license in January 2009, she went on to compete nationally in creative hair color competitions and made bold moves to build a clientele launching her into the world of freelance by 2013. Specializing in makeup artistry and styling, she has worked beside photographers, cinematographers, directors and producers ranging from corporate commercial gigs to small passionate independent collectives.

While nurturing her relationships behind the salon chair, in photography studios and on stage with her band LOKELLA, her interests continue to drive her to learn about psychology, interior design and architecture. She indulges in her passion for cultivating community through art and self-expression, her profound affection for animals and a compassionate pull to help guide others. Her lifelong connection to writing and poetry has landed her in multiple online publications and she shares her work publicly on her blog.

Today she retreats to her home in the woods in Rockford, Michigan, surrounded by her parrot and a pack of dogs while enjoying Michigan's beautiful hiking and mountain bike trails with her lifetime collaborator.
